The mission of the Center for Excellence in Surgical Outcomes is to conduct innovative clinical and translational research while working with global teams of experts in virtual research environments. This is achieved through the "Research about Research" methodology, whose aim is to facilitate research innovation and improve its quality, productivity, and return on investment by conducting:
- monitoring and identification of common problems in virtual research environments and research policy
- interdisciplinary study of problems in virtual research environments and research policy followed by dissemination of resulting models
- development and dissemination of Web tools and standards to solve problems in virtual research environments and research policy followed by their insertion back into the research environment
The K-Lab, respectfully short for the Michael W. Krzyzewski Human Performance Research Laboratory at Duke Medical Center, is dedicated to the understanding and prevention of athletic injury.
